CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

  All students will be carefully placed in the class that is fitting to their technique.

Mini Movers (Ages 3 -5)

This perfect combination ballet and tap class for your little ones. This class is designed to teach basic dance vocabulary while emphasizing ballet and tap etiquette and technique. No previous dance experience is needed.

Tap

Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.

Hip Hop

Hip-hop is a popular, energetic form of dance that focuses on creativity and style while dancing to today’s hippest music. Street style combinations are taught each week. This class is great for the student looking for a casual dance class experience. This class will introduce movement influenced by many of the choreographers seen on music videos and in movies and will use movements such as popping, locking, and breaking.

Pointe

This class requires strength, prior knowledge of Ballet terminology, and correct execution of Ballet movements. Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working in pointe shoes. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work and across the floor combination.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modernjazzlyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet.

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of many dance forms and will maximize technique and longevity in a career of dance. It provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance.  We teach a classically technique class focusing on vocabulary, correct posture and execution, and a strong understanding of the dancers’ body.

Jazz
Turns & Leaps

Jazz dance is an exploration of style and presentation. Classes emphasize musicality and body alignment, conditioning, stretch and strengthening, rhythm and stylization as well as fun and innovative choreography.

Afro - Fusion

This class class will build upon foundations of traditional and contemporary elements of African and Western dance styles including West African, Caribbean, Hip Hop, House, and Jazz dance.

Modern

 Dancers will focus on contractions, spirals, basic floor work, and elemental concepts of space, time, and force. They will also build core strength and flexibility in a fun and encouraging environment. This class is for students who have taken Ballet and Jazz as a pre-requisite or have some experience with modern dance.

Lyrical

This class is a combination of ballet and jazz that challenges dancers to use choreography and movement to interpret music and express emotion. Dancers learn to express emotions derived from lyrics to convey the dance’s meaning and tells a story through every movement made.​
